Sexual abuse

Sexual Abuse is usually undesired behavior by one person to another. It is often done by using force, making threats or taking advantage of survivors not able to give consent. Most survivors & perpetrators know each other. Immediate reactions to sexual abuse include shock & disbelief. Long-term symptoms include anxiety, fear or post-traumatic stress disorder. One essential element in treatment of sexual abuse is patience of the therapist, allowing survivors the opportunity to tell their story without assumptions or judgement
